The
Board of Christian Education works to provide a wide range of activities to
encourage spiritual growth throughout our church family.
Nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers during our worship service. (Age 3 and under) The volunteer staff works on a rotating schedule so that they all become familiar to the children.
Our Sunday School classes include Pre-school thru Teens and follow the Cornerstone Curriculum that is based on the Multiple Intelligence Theory of Learning. The classes meet weekly at 10:00 AM during the regular worship services from September through June. During the summer, Children Pre K age and up are invited to join the congregation for worship. There will be “Packets of Fun” for those that may get a bit restless!

FROM CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Happy
2012! We started the year with a “Birthday Celebration” in Sunday School on
January 8th by kicking off our Birthday
Wishes Mission Project! We will be putting together “Birthday Boxes” for
the Norfolk Food Pantry. The Boxes will include all of the necessities for a
child’s Birthday Party to enable folks in need to celebrate their special day!
Each class will be filling two boxes (one for a boy and one for a girl) with
cake mix, frosting, balloons, plates, napkins, candles, etc. If you do not have
a child in Sunday School, but would like to contribute, please bring your
donations to Lynn Riley or Sue Shea by February 12th!
For
our workshop rotations in Sunday School, we just began exploring the
story of “The Good Samaritan”. This will continue through February 12th, followed by “The Prodigal
Son” for another four week rotation. Please remember that January 29th will be a Family Sunday which
means children will remain in worship with their families, and there will not
be any Sunday School. The Nursery will, however, be available for our littlest
ones!
We
have had several new children joining our Sunday School, and are thrilled to
have you! Please be sure to get an enrollment form from your teacher or Lynn
Riley, so we have necessary information, and especially address and email
information to be able to pass along all the details about our happenings!

If
your child is in 2nd
grade or older,
and would like to be an Acolyte, Phil Lukens and Jim Lehan are in the
process of training those interested! Please see one of them if your child
would like to help with the lighting of the candles or carrying of the Bible on
Sunday mornings on a rotating basis.

Youth Groups have lots on the calendar, so please mark yours with the
following dates, and we hope you can join us! Remember that friends are always
welcome….

If
you have a child that is Jr. PYF or HS PYF age, and have not been receiving
emails about our activities (and would like to!), please let Lynn Riley know at
rileyy@verizon.net. ALL are invited, so if you have not been getting the
information, I may not have the correct email address for you.
As
you can see on our schedule, our Annual Super Bowl Sub Sale will be
happening on February 5th! Our fabulous Jr. and HS
PYF kids will be collecting order forms during Fellowship Time until January 29th, so that your subs will be
ready for you to bring home following church on Super Bowl Sunday!
Look for announcements in the
church bulletin concerning the start of new adult bible studies.
Perhaps it could meet in people’s homes, or maybe here at the church. Perhaps it could include supper, or maybe lunch, or snacks. Perhaps it could meet once a month, or maybe every other week.
