CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT THE FEDERATED CHURCH

OUR CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE . . .

The Board of Christian Education works to provide a wide range of activities to encourage spiritual growth throughout our church family.

Nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers during our worship service. (Age 3 and under) The volunteer staff works on a rotating schedule so that they all become familiar to the children.

Our Sunday School classes include Pre-school thru Grade 8 and follow the Cornerstone Curriculum that is based on the Multiple Intelligence Theory of Learning. The classes meet weekly at 10:00 AM during the regular worship services from September through June. During the summer, Children Pre K age and up are invited to join the congregation for worship.  There will be “Packets of Fun” for those that may get a bit restless!

NOVEMBER CHRISTIAN EDUCATION NEWS

Sunday School

Sunday School is flowing smoothly in our second workshop rotation.  The children and adult leaders are studying the Psalms in many creative ways.  The workshop leaders are Len Myatt (created by the Spirit), Lynn Riley (moved by the Spirit), Leslie and George Heffernan (Puppetry) and Barbara LaValley (eat your way through the Bible).  During coffee and fellowship time, ask a child what they did in class that day.  Their answers should be interesting.

Workshop Leaders

Christian Education would like to thank all the people who have said “YES!” to leading a workshop this year.  We are now filled through the end of the year.  We will soon begin filling positions for after the holidays.  If you said yes and have not yet been assigned, do not worry, we try to match you to the workshop that will work best for you and your schedule.   There are four more rotations after the New Year begins.  We look forward to your participation and enthusiasm!

Sunday School feedback

We would love for you to share your comments about being a workshop leader, teacher/shepherd or assistant!

Holly Fair Children’s Shopping

We are still seeking donations for our Children’s shopping area.  If you have any small, new or like-new items around the house that you would like to donate as gifts for the children to purchase, please leave them (clearly marked) in the Christian Education Office upstairs.  This is for a CHILDREN’S ONLY shopping area where kids can buy and wrap gifts for those special adults, friends or siblings on their Christmas list.  Items are priced at .25, .50 and $1.00.

Christmas Pageant News

Christian Education has chosen a script for the Christmas Pageant and will begin assigning parts and rehearsing on November 30th immediately after church (11:15-11:45). We would like to include as many children and youth as possible.  Parents and youth, please check your schedules!  The pageant will be performed at the end of the worship time on Sunday December 21st.  Other rehearsal times will ADULT EDUCATION

BIBLE STUDY

For adults, we have a Bible study that meets on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 AM. This is a warm, friendly group who enjoys studying and discussing the word of God together as well as taking the time to pray for the needs of others. New members are always welcomed; feel free to drop in.

We will begin offering a new midweek Pastor’s Bible Study on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 PM.  The study will examine particular books of the bible, or faith-related subjects for five or six week “sessions.”  No prior Bible study experience is required.

Eat supper, or bring it along, and then join us for lively and insightful discussions beginning Wednesday, September 24.

Please contact Pastor Scott for more information.

BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP

Are you looking for a good book to read?  Have you read a book with “meat,” a book that explores interesting and thought-provoking subject matter?  Are you looking for a group of people that can get together to read and discuss just such a book?

Perhaps it could meet in people’s homes, or maybe here at the church.  Perhaps it could include supper, or maybe lunch, or snacks.  Perhaps it could meet once a month, or maybe every other week.

Anyone that is interested in forming a book discussion group, please speak with Pastor Scott, and share your ideas.  Give him a call at 508-528-0262, or e-mail: pastor@fcon.org.
