CHRISTIAN
EDUCATION AT THE FEDERATED CHURCH
OUR CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE . . .
The Board of Christian
Education works to provide a wide range of activities to encourage spiritual
growth throughout our church family.
Nursery
care is provided for infants and toddlers during our worship service. (Age 3
and under) The volunteer staff works on a rotating schedule so that they all
become familiar to the children.
Our
Sunday School classes include Pre-school thru Grade 8 and follow the
Cornerstone Curriculum that is based on the Multiple Intelligence Theory of
Learning. The classes meet weekly at 10:00 AM during the regular worship
services from September through June. During the summer, Children Pre K age and
up are invited to join the congregation for worship. There will be “Packets of Fun” for those that may get a bit
restless!

SUMMER
UPDATE
Happy
Summer from Christian Education!
Our summer began with a wonderfully faith filled week of Vacation Bible
School! Our Baobab Blast theme incorporated
Crafts, Story Telling, Games, Music and Science into an amazing week of
learning about God and several Bible Stories. We were blessed with about fifty-five children
participating. It is always
wonderful to welcome families from the community for this incredible week, and
again this year there were several friendships rekindled! A great big thank you to the forty
volunteers who contributed to make this week a great success, and a special
thank you to Elaine Peterson for being the “Chief Organizer” – the endless
hours planning resulted in a Spirit filled week for the children, youth and
adults! Again, many thanks!
Prior
to VBS, we experienced an exciting Children’s Sunday in May, and were glad so
many children were able to participate, and share some of their learning with
the congregation! Thank you to all
the teachers who helped the children throughout the year and for this service!
We,
also, congratulate the youth that were Confirmed…Paige Myatt, Will Heffernan
and Sabrina Newman! For some of us
who have taught for some time, it is always exciting to see the Sunday School
learning of the youth culminate in such a wonderful commitment to God! We pray that God continues to guide you
in your faith journey.
We
participated in Norfolk Community Day by organizing the Train Ride again. Although a rainy day, many were able to
enjoy the festivities, and we were able to raise $656 for Christian Ed! Thanks to all who helped, and a special
thanks to the Holmes Family for the Train!
What
a wonderful affair the Elegant Ball was!!
We had many beautiful princesses and a few very handsome princes enjoy
this magical evening. Pam and Greg
Davey deserve a great, big thank you for all the work to make this such a fun
event for Children’s Youth Group!
Although
there are not any Sunday School classes during the summer months, we hope you
are still able to join the worship services! There will continue to be activity packets available by the
ushers for the children if they would like. Sunday School will resume on Rally Sunday (September
12th). If you are able to volunteer
as a classroom Teacher/Shepherd, which requires a regular commitment to be with
one specific class each week, but no curriculum “teaching” involved; or as a
Workshop Leader which requires a commitment for four weeks of teaching the same
lesson for a specific workshop, please let Barbara LaValley (508-528-0683) or
Lynn Riley (508-376-8465) know. It
is a wonderfully rewarding experience!
Enjoy
the blessings of summer in New England!

ADULT
EDUCATION
BIBLE
STUDY
For
adults, we have a Bible study that meets on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 AM.
This is a warm, friendly group who enjoys studying and discussing the word of
God together as well as taking the time to pray for the needs of others. New
members are always welcomed; feel free to drop in.
.
Are
you looking for a good book to read?
Have you read a book with “meat,” a book that explores interesting and
thought-provoking subject matter?
Are you looking for a group of people that can get together to read and
discuss just such a book?
Perhaps
it could meet in people’s homes, or maybe here at the church. Perhaps it could include supper, or
maybe lunch, or snacks. Perhaps it
could meet once a month, or maybe every other week.
Anyone
that is interested in forming a book discussion group, please speak with Pastor
Scott, and share your ideas. Give
him a call at 508-528-0262, or e-mail: pastor@fcon.org.
