Dear Federated Church
Parents,
It seems inconceivable that I am writing a letter about
something that happens next June! But I
am. Sunday, June 7, 2009 is
Confirmation Sunday. We are currently
beginning the process of putting together the Confirmation Class (formerly
known as the Discipleship Class).
All youth in grades seven and eight are invited to participate in the
class.
Each youth will be asked to select an individual to serve
as their mentor. The mentor and youth
will be responsible for meeting throughout the year, and following the Making
Disciplesã curriculum. The youth and their mentors also plan and
lead the Easter Sunrise service. Save
the date … April 12, 2009. In addition,
there will be special events scheduled for the class that also correspond to
the curriculum. (Those dates will be
provided as they become available.)
The first meeting of the confirmation class will be on
Sunday, October 5, at 11:15 AM following the morning worship service. Please ask your son/daughter to complete Confirmation Form at this link and bring it with
them on that day. Also, the youth
should select an adult mentor, and ask that person if they are willing to serve
in that role. I believe that the
church’s practice has been to select a mentor that is the same gender as the
youth.
To make communication (and hopefully life) easier for
you, all of the materials and dates for the Confirmation Class will be posted
on the Federated Church website (www.fcon.org). Please consult it regularly.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free
to contact me.
Sincerely,
Rev.
