The
Pastor’s Perspective …
“Share the Love.”
“Share the Love” is
the theme for the Mission Committee’s collection of donations for the Norfolk
Food Pantry. There is so much emphasis upon generosity and giving to food
pantries, etc. around Thanksgiving and Christmas, we often move on and forget
that those same families get hungry in February and March as well. Please pick
up a shopping bag with the suggested shopping list in the entryway outside the
church office. Consider also adding Valentine’s Day items so that the families
can have a little something special to share with their friends.
“Share the Love.”
Our Sunday school
children are creating Birthday Boxes for the next couple of months. The classes
are decorating and filling boxes with birthday party supplies (cups, plates,
balloons, etc.) that will also be donated to the Norfolk Food Pantry. The boxes
will then be distributed to local families so that their children will be able
to enjoy some very special birthday celebrations. If you would like to help,
please speak to Lynn Riley or Barbara LaValley.
“Share the Love.”
The cold, snowy and
icy months of winter are very hard on some of our shut-in members, as well as
those with mobility issues. Often times people feel lonely and isolated because
they are forced to spend time inside because of the conditions outside. Our
friends and neighbors do not make it to church, or programs that they normally
attend. Take a moment and think about a friend or neighbor that you have not
seen for a couple of days or weeks. Consider making a visit … bring by a crock
of soup, or a nice loaf of fresh baked bread, or a batch of cookies … or just
go by and give the gift of your presence. It may be the most valuable gift that
you ever give.
Jesus Christ … the
Word Made Flesh … God Incarnate … is the perfect embodiment of Love. He came
that we might have life and love abundantly. Let us love Christ in return. And
now, let us follow Him, let us do His will, and let us share the love
