TRUSTEES
The
Trustees of the Federated Church of Norfolk are elected at the church’s Annual
Meeting. Each member serves a three-year term. The terms are staggered so that
one third of the board is new each year. The members of this board are
responsible for the care and maintenance of Church property including the
parsonage. The Trustees also manage the rental of church property to outside
groups for meetings and events and they appoint the sexton and church
historian.
Thanks to all who have
helped us out and those of you who will continue to help. We are very grateful for all the support
If
you have any concerns or requests, please contact the chairman Shawn Dooley
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR MOWING
![]()
The trustees are looking for volunteers to help mow the church grounds
this spring/summer. If you would be
willing to help, please contact Shawn Dooley at 508-930-9988 or the church
office. Thank you
As you all know, we have had a great deal of
projects in the works for the past few years. I thought I would let you
know how and where the monies have been spent and which fund paid for which
items. The three funds we had available were the Weeber, Holmes and
Highland funds. Weeber was $30,000.00, Holmes was $100,000 and Highland
was $239,560.00 all extremely generous donations and something the
church could not have survived without.
The Weeber fund was donated for the kitchen
renovation. Of the $30K available $15K went to architectural designs,
drawings and permits. The other $15K has been used as down payments for
some of the equipment that will be needed for the kitchen.
The Holmes fund of $100K was used exclusively for
the vestry with $22,828.59 used for the architect, drawings and permits with
the balance of $77,171.41 for the construction project.
The Highland fund, so far, has paid for:
·
· Gutters for the school building $ 6,960.00
·
· Tree removal 600.00
·
· Front porch 10,149.00
·
· Fire Alarm system 29,934.48
·
· Steeple Repair 3,345.00
·
· Vestry roof 22,750.00
·
· Vestry completion 44,322.40
Subtotal $119,060.88
We need to address some areas that anyone can work
on if they are so inclined. They are:
·
Putting in the brick walkway to the parking
lot
·
Adding a loft to the barn
·
Fixing the sump pump exit pipe, boiler room,
so that it goes to the parking lot versus back to the basement
·
Working with the boy scouts to clean out
behind the barn and turn it into a meditation/walking path area
·
Replace the window in the school room that
is rotting away. We will take the window from the kitchen and use
that as the replacement
·
Join in and help out with snow removal
during some of these winter storms
·
This Spring, remove the choir pews, sand,
paint and reinstall
As you all know we are a very old building and in
constant need of upkeep. Feel free to jump in and make recommendations.
ONGOING
PROJECTS
Below, are areas the
trustees feel that work should be done to better accommodate our congregation
and enhance the appeal of our church. The contractor that was with us at
last month’s meeting said that our church was a landmark for the town of
Norfolk. In order to attract more people to the church there are a number
of areas that need to have work done. We especially need to accommodate
people with varied abilities. If the church is to maintain a status as a
landmark then we will need to pursue these improvements as well as
others that are not yet listed. Our desire is to make the congregation
aware of these areas that need to be addressed.

the Lord,

Our church is a historic
building in Norfolk (that means it is old!).
There is always work to do. If you have the time and the interest
please volunteer.
If
anyone is interested in doing or helping with any of these projects please
contact a trustee so we can work out the details. There should be job sheets at
the trustees bulletin board or just write on a blank sheet of paper what you
are willing to do and a date and time so if others can help they can check the
web site to see who is working on what jobs.
