Good Afternoon Federated Church
Family!
I would like to begin be saying
thank you! We had an amazing weekend this past week at Federated Church.
Saturday we had our Estate Sale and Flea Market. A hard-working group of you
spent the entire week at the church picking up items from people’s homes,
sorting, organizing, pricing, cleaning, cooking, baking, preparing gift
baskets, shopping, eating ... and so much more! The vestry was packed to
overflowing with antiques and other treasures. I do not have the final number
on hand, but I do know that we made right around $8,000! Wow! WOW!!
After the sale was over, we did
the old “white tornado” and got the vestry ready for the next big event ...
Children’s Sunday!
Again, more thanks are in order. ‘Thank
you’ to all of our Sunday school teachers, workshop leaders, Board of Christian
Education members, children, youth, parents and all of the many, many
volunteers that make our Sunday school and youth ministries so wonderfully
alive!! The service of worship was delightful! I believe that it might have
been the best Children’s Sunday service EVER! The music, the presentations by
the classes, the slideshow, the Adult Moment and the beautiful spirit of love
and fellowship that filled the entire church was inspirational. Our church
family is truly blessed! Thank you!
Looking Ahead ...
We have a much quieter weekend
this week. NOTHING is happening on Saturday. Take the day off and relax.
Join us for worship on Sunday at
10:00 AM. A central focus of the worship service will be upon the Memorial Day
holiday. During the service, we will be dedicating a new American Flag for the
sanctuary. The flag was very generously donated to the church by American
Legion Post 335 of Norfolk. We will also all join together for a Patriotic hymn
sing. I hope that you will all be able to join us. Please note, there will not
be any Sunday school this week. The children will remain in the service. Do not
worry ... the sermon will be short.
I hope that you will return to the
church bright and early on Monday morning. The Memorial Day parade steps off
from our parking lot at 8:00 AM. We will march to the town cemetery for our
service of remembrance led by our American Legion Post. We will march back to
Town Hill for the closing ceremony with the Field of Flags as our backdrop. As
always, there will be refreshments after the parade served behind the church.
Many of our children and youth will be marching with the Boy and Girl Scouts,
the school groups, and in the marching band. I hope that you will join us for
this time of recognition and remembrance for all of those who gave so much in
service to our country.
Finally ...
Plan to join us at the church on
Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM for a spring concert provided by the Prolatio
Singers and Players. It is always a special treat to hear the a cappella voices
lifted into the evening air. Admission is free! It is a wonderful way to relax
after a long day.
The Peace and Joy of God be with
you all!
